Brittany Thornton

Brittany’s academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boston University. Throughout her educational pursuits, she transitioned from overseeing substance abuse research studies at UCLA to assuming responsibilities for studies and student instruction at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.Her dedication to learning led her to achieve further milestones, including a Bachelor’s and later a Master’s degree in Nursing from Columbia University. Brittany’s commitment extended into her roles as a faculty member at Columbia and Einstein Universities. Eventually, she relocated to Colorado, where she currently offers care to acute clients while also guiding and mentoring Nurse Practitioner students. 

Drawing from her extensive background, which encompasses prescribing within inpatient units and outpatient settings, Brittany sought additional training in Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. These enhancements further empower her approach to medication management.

Brittany is very excited to join Hudson Mental Wellness where she will see clients in both Colorado and New York. Joining a private practice allows her to utilize her holistic approach with a new population of clients. 

Clients can anticipate a compassionate and encouraging atmosphere, fostering the exploration of their personal challenges. Brittany will collaboratively formulate a comprehensive strategy, incorporating an array of therapeutic techniques, medication, and supplementary options. By interweaving humor and compassionate directness, clients will engage with a practitioner who serves as both a guide and a fellow traveler on their journey to well-being. Brittany is skilled at addressing an array of conditions across life’s diverse stages, spanning anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, psychosis, and trauma-related issues.
